Preparing for Worship September 1, 2024 www.crossroadswsks.com WHAT TO PRAY THIS WEEK Speaker: Patrick Belsh Pray for those who will lead in worship: Garold Syring-the Worship Ministry team Patrick Belshe Erin Toole Pray that the Holy Spirit will move in our corporate gatherings, leading us to exalt Jesus Christ. Pray that CCC will grow in Christ-exalting, Kingdom advancing ministry in 2024. Pray that God will move on us to be more evangelistic and, through our obedience in sharing the Gospel, will save many. Pray that we will become a house of prayer. This Sunday Patrick will be using 1 Timothy 1:8-11 as his text for his sermon entitled “Watch Your Step”. 8 Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, 9 understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, 10 the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, 11 in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted. The Moods of Worship Psalm 95 95 Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! 2 Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! 3 For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. 4 In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. 5 The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. 6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! 7 For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. Today, if you hear his voice, 8 do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness, 9 when your fathers put me to the test and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work. 10 For forty years I loathed that generation and said, “They are a people who go astray in their heart, and they have not known my ways.” 11 Therefore I swore in my wrath, “They shall not enter my rest.” This Psalm, as in the case of many of the shorter hymns of Israel, has three movements to it. In the first strophe (verses 1-5), we have the psalmist exhorting the community to come before the Lord joyfully. Joyfully we come to boast in God our great King. In reading the first words we may find ourselves reading words that seem to be a bit strange. For these words, in a rugged translation, sound like this: O come, let us give a ringing shout of joy to Yahweh; O come, and let us give a shout of triumph to the Rock of our salvation! SONGS OF WORSHIP This Sunday's Music As we prepare for corporate worship, meditate on the lyrics from some of our songs of worship. Listen to them below. I’ll fly AwayVerse 1 Some glad morning when this life is o’er, I’ll fly away; To a home on God’s celestial shore, I’ll fly away. Chorus I’ll fly away, O glory, I’ll fly away; When I die, hallelujah, by and by, I’ll fly away. Verse 2 When the shadows of this life have gone, I’ll fly away; Like a bird from prison bars has flown, I’ll fly away. Verse 3 Jus a few more weary days and then, I’ll fly away. I once was lost in darkest night, Yet thought I knew the way; The sin that promised joy and life Had led me to the grave. I had no hope that You would own A rebel to Your will, And if You had not loved me first, I would refuse You still. But as I run my hell-bound race indifferent to the cost, You looked upon my helpless state and led me to the cross; And I beheld God’s love displayed, You suffered in my place, You bore the wrath reserved for me, Now all I know is grace. Hallelujah! All I have is Christ. Hallelujah! Jesus is my life. Hallelujah! All I have is Christ. Hallelujah! Jesus is my life. Now, Lord I would be Yours alone and live so all might see; The strength to follow Your commands could never come from me. O Father, use my ransomed life in any way You choose. And let my song forever be, “My only boast is You!” Hallelujah! All I have is Christ. Hallelujah! Jesus is my life. Hallelujah! All I have is Christ. Hallelujah! Jesus is my life. Hallelujah! All I have is Christ. Hallelujah! Jesus is my life. ‘All I Have Is Christ’ Words and music by JORDAN KAUFLIN © 2008 Sovereign Grace Praise (admin. at CapitolCMGPublishing.com) All rights reserved. Refrain: Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him! How I've proved him o'er and o'er! Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! O for grace to trust him more! 2 O how sweet to trust in Jesus, just to trust his cleansing blood; and in simple faith to plunge me neath the healing, cleansing flood! [Refrain] 3 Yes, 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus, just from sin and self to cease; just from Jesus simply taking life and rest, and joy and peace. [Refrain] © Words: Public Domain; Music: Public Domain Christ Receiveth Sinful Men 1. Come, and He will give you rest; Trust Him, for His Word is plain; He will take the sinfulest; Christ receiveth sinful men. (Refrain) 3. Now my heart condemns me not, Pure before the law I stand; He who cleansed me from all spot, Satisfied its last demand. (Refrain) 4. Christ receiveth sinful men, Even me with all my sin; Purged from ev'ry spot and stain, Heav'n with Him I enter in. Refrain: Sing it o'er and o'er again; Christ receiveth sinful men; Make the message clear and plain: Christ receiveth sinful men. © Public Domain |
